Mysore Palace


Commonly described as the City of Palaces, Mysore in India has a number of historic palaces of which Mysore Palace is the most famous one. The spalace was commissioned in 1897 after the old palace was destroyed in a fire during a wedding, and its construction was completed in 1912. During the Dasara festival in the months of September and October the palace is illuminated with more than 10,000 bulbs, offering a magnificent sight.

Mysore Palace is a great spot to hit for a glimpse into the royal history, and visiting during a national holiday or on a Sunday will allow you to see the palace illuminated in nearly 100,000 bulbs. The city boasts roughly 180 parks, providing an abundance of green space options. Happy Man Park is one of the most popular and is very family friendly. Many locals enjoy visiting the lakes that dot the landscape, including Kukarahalli Kere and the romantic Karanji Kere which is encompassed by Mysore Zoo. The zoo, one of the oldest in the world, is definitely one of the city’s most popular attractions for its spectacular grounds and array of wildlife.
